Bariatric Surgery as a Bridge to Heart Transplant for Patients with Obesity

Heart failure fellow Dr daSilva-deAbreu performed a systematic review of bariatric surgery for patients with obesity and advanced HF required ventricular assist device support. The majority of patients lost significant weight and almost half successfully proceeded to heart transplantation during the follow-up period. Drs daSilva-deAbreu and Vest recently contributed an Expert Analysis on the topic of Obesity in Patients with Advanced Heart Failure and Left Ventricular Assist Devices.
