Review Outlines the Potential for Nutraceutical Supplementation in HF

The Optimal Nutraceutical Supplementation in Heart Failure (ONUS-HF) working group published a review of potential nutraceutical approaches to HF, particularly to address pathophysiological and molecular changes occurring during the early stages of myocardial dysfunction. The review proposes future areas of study to determine whether nutraceuticals such as coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), a grape seed extract, Olea Europea L.-related antioxidants, a sodium-glucose cotransporter (SGLT2) inhibitor-rich apple extract and a bergamot polyphenolic fraction might help stabilize the failing heart in the early stages.
